My turtle doesnt like being touched at all..why??its been two years...?

Turtles are NOT meant to be handled, only when you have to change their water. My 2 RES turtles I have had for 1 and 2 years and they hate to be handled but my painted one loves to be picked up. The fact is most of them hate to be handled and would rather be swimming in the water. They swim in the front of the tank because they want food not to be picked up. Also, don't clip it's nails, males are supposed to have long nails and if you cut them you will most likely hurt the turtle.
