Help with Microsoft Word? Trying to center title, but the whole page gets centered instead.?

I've highlighted just the title or the spot I want centered, but the whole thing ends up that way instead. I mean it works for when I want to make the text bold or underlined or whatever, but not centered, and I really need it that way. I know it sounds stupid and it's probably a really quick fix, but can any one help?
