After care for cherry eye?

After my dog op he has had 2 check ups, yesterday we were told it was still a little inflamed, and the vet pulled his eyelid down to examine it but now since he has done this his cherry eye has reappeared. i would like to know if the vet should of pulled at his eyelid? as i think this has caused it to reappear.
